Avery Singing

Wednesday, 16 April 2008 10:38 by Daddy

I dug these videos a couple days ago that I took a few months back. They are pretty classic...First is Avery singing "Five Little Monkeys" and the other is "Twinkle Twinkle".  You will notice she gets distracted by the computer during Five Little Monkey but picks up right where she left off.  Poor girl sounds like she inherted my voice...at least that is what mommy is saying. :(

Go Cowboys!

Sunday, 13 April 2008 23:20 by Daddy

A few days ago we had a nice storm roll into Denver and we received about 5 inches of snow.  It was a beautiful sight as it was coming down hard and piling up quick.  Later in the afternoon after the storm stopped we decided to get all bundled up and head outside to play in the snow.  We had a blast as it brought back the kid inside (nevermind I still have the kid inside of me at all times).  We built a snowman, threw snowballs and took in some major sledding...especially since it was already starting to melt.  The sledding had to be the best especially in Avery's eyes.  She had an absolute blast.  First we have a nice slope in the back of our yard and we built a trail...then we took turns pulling Avery around on our boogie board.  It is a good thing that we kept the boogie boards as they have proven to be more than adequate on the sledding front.  I hope you laugh as hard as I did as we pulled Avery around in the backyard...listen as she continues to yell "Go Cowboys"  It is a hoot.

Sweet little hill (it even has sides like the bobsled)

A little blurry :( but it will make your sides hurt

Princess Avery

Thursday, 14 February 2008 12:25 by Daddy
Avery is no doubt our little princess and recently we went to Disneyland (thanks to the Turnbaughs and us trying to cram every theme park we possibly can before we move) for a fun filled day of Mickey & friends.  We decided to make a day of it as we arrived at Disneyland around noon and left at 11pm.  It was a long day but Avery was a trooper even though she only had a 30 minute nap.   We rode as many rides as we could.  She especially enjoyed the Dumbo ride and surprisingly she loved Gadget's Go Coaster in Toon Town.  The height requirement was 35" and lucky for her she is standing tall at 36".  When she got off she was jumping and screaming with excitement.  We are huge roller coaster fans so it would be nice to have another one in the family.

She had a great time experiencing new rides but the one that stole the show was Disney Princess Fantasy Faire.  This gave her the chance to meet Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty and Pocahontas.  In addition she received a special treat to magically turn into a princess...with the help of some Disney hair and makeup stylists.   She wanted to get her hair and face painted so bad...so thanks to Grandma Di mission accomplished!!

Final CA My Gym Class - Going out with a bang!

Wednesday, 13 February 2008 02:42 by Daddy

In preparation for our move we have ended Avery's My Gym classes here in California.  It was a sad day as we have had many fun filled Saturdays taking Avery to class.  She has benefited from the social, educational and physical aspects of the class.  I would highly recommend it to any one as it truly is a blast.  To say that she loves going to my gym would be an understatement.  One of her favorite things is the mini trampoline...she could jump on it for days.  So needless to say she took full advantage of it on this last day.

With this being her last day I decided to take some video of her taking part in her favorite pastime.  Being the sweet little girl that she is she welcomed one of her friends to jump with her...and as you can tell from the video all did not go as planned.  Oddly enough you will notice a smile at the most inopportune time during the video but later that subsides to both kids having a meltdown...one that I can totally understand.  This is one of those video moments that you only get lucky filming…I feel bad for the kiddos but it does make for great video...have fun.

So Wrong...but funny

Sunday, 23 December 2007 01:57 by Daddy

As we have come to find Avery has a very strong memory.  This was such the case when she asked me about some horror movie bobble heads that we had around the house from our past Halloween parties.  I just can't help but laugh...I know...bad daddy for teaching her about such mean characters.

Louisiana Vacation Part 3

Tuesday, 20 November 2007 13:17 by Daddy

Boiled Crawfish Time!  We were lucky enough to have some boiled crawfish.  The season for crawfish is just beginning as it can run from December thru May…give or take the weather and if everything goes well.  Lucky for us we have a good connection to get hooked up…especially since they are receiving a pretty penny as it is early in the season.  I would have to say peeling crawfish is time consuming but is well worth it in the end.  The flavor and taste is one of my favorites.  If you have not had the experience of eating crawfish I highly recommend it.  In addition to some great crawfish we had crabs and frog legs (tastes like chicken).  It is such a wonderful experience to be able to get such great food.

Check out some of the highlights here.

Louisiana Vacation Part 2

Sunday, 18 November 2007 13:16 by Daddy

So far the weather has been great.  Sunday we had a storm from the Gulf head our way with a bunch of rain.  This happened to be the same day that we were celebrating Kristi’s parents 40th Anniversary.  After the rain stopped all the kids wanted to play in the mud and puddles.  As many of you know we live in California and rain practically never occurs so playing in the mud is not really an option like it is on the farm.  Before we knew it Avery was following “the boys” (Austin and John William - Avery’s cousins).  The only problem was she was in her nice Nike shoes and cute purple outfit.  Needless to say she did not realize how muddy it was and she got stuck in the mud.  So we hooked Avery up with some rain boots and some of Austin’s old clothes.  Unfortunetly the rain boots were a little big and she ended up getting stuck in the mud again.  Being the princess she is she started to cry and scream for Mommy and Daddy.  So we took of the boots and let her go barefoot.  That worked out great as she was jumping and playing in the mud.  She got dirty, wet and had a blast playing like the boys and taking off her crown.  It was so cute…she was having so much fun and not suprisingly she was the last child to come inside.

Check out all the pictures here!

…and some video too

Avery's 1st Haircut

Thursday, 24 May 2007 16:13 by Daddy

We took Avery to get her first haircut.  All things considered it went really well.  You can never know how the 1st haircut is going to play out but she did such a great job.
